- The moraine zone is evidence of accelerated glacial retreat.
TRIP OVERVIEW
Laguna 513, located at 4 460 m/14 628 ft. Its depth is approximately 45 meters; the color of its waters is intense turquoise. There is no vegetation because the moraine zone is evidence of accelerated glacial retreat. It is located right at the base of the glacier of the Hualcan glacier, whose thaw pours to feed this lagoon.
We are offering this new day hike option in the Cordillera Blanca. Ideal to acclimatize for a trekking, climbing or just to combine with one of our well-known day trips. Considered of strong degree, we recommend for a second or third day. This hike rated as medium to hard, because of the altitude and challenging hiking effort to reach the Laguna 513.
