TRIP OVERVIEW
Visit the popular Laguna Churup located at 28 km/17 miles east of Huaraz. This is challenging yet a fantastic acclimatization hike affording magnificent panorama views of Huaraz and the landscape around and the imposing peak of the Churup peak. Lake Churup lies at an altitude of 4450m in a big cirque with the snow covered Churup summit in the background. Typical for a cirque lake. Its water is extremely clear and has a deep blue colour near the edges of the lake.
ITINERARY DESCRIPTION
Inkaland Treks recommend our clients to start early. We will pick you up after breakfast in your hotel.
Drive up on the paved truck to the parking place at Pitec (not a village, but a few farmhouses), along drive we pass through traditional village of Unchus and Llupa with its traditional adobe houses and reach farmlands, there is opportunity to see local quechua people on their traditional clothes and working land with their hands. Then as we reach Pitec, after checking with the Huascaran National Park range, start ascending following the path over the long ridge. After about 1 ½ you reach a steep a rocky part, to the left of the waterfall. From there, you reach lake Churup after a quite intimidating 45 minutes climb. This climb can be a real challenge climb, to avoid this steep part, there is an option to climb more to the left where is a kind of metal rope that helps to climb. Then as you arrive to the lake will be impressed for the beautiful view of the lake and landscape sourrounded.
Spend time walking around lake side, take pictures, relax and have box lunch enjoying the nature. Then return on the same way back to Pitec, where our private transportation waits to drive you back to Huaraz hotel.

MEAL PLAN – FOOD
All breakfasts are included in most hotels in Huaraz.
As part of our service, we provide you with tasty nutritional lunches, snacks and modern, comfortable personal transport to and from our day hikes.
Our service include from box lunch for midday during day trips. You will pay directly extra meal expenses during your stay in Huaraz From traditional Peruvian dishes, through to budget bites and fine cuisine you should allow approximately US$10 – 15 per meal.
We cater all fresh meals. We are pleased to cater to our vegetarian clients or special diets on request. It is your personal trek so it is your personal meal choice.
TYPICAL TREKKING ADVENTURE DAY SCHEDULE
On a typical Day trip we will pick you up from your hotel. All our Day tours starts and ends from your hotel. During tours you will be accompanied by our guide and private transportation with reliable and experienced drivers. For large groups up to 5 there will be a assistant guide to support the group.
Every day we will provide you snack and cooked lunch for (Paron, Pastoruri) for lake 69 and other hikes where is not possible to have the car next to us for lunch time. We will provide you delicious sandwiches. According you diet request.
HEALTH AND HYGIENE
We make health and hygiene our top priority. Our box lunchs are prepared with fresh vegetables accompanied by meet, trout or chicken. Fruits we provide are disinfected using a special liquid to kill the bacteria’s.
