Day 1 – Huaraz → Morrena Camp (4,800 m)

Depart from Huaraz by private transport (~1.5–2 hours) to the trailhead at Llaca Valley.
Begin a steady 3-hour ascent to Morrena Camp (4,800 m), surrounded by stunning views of Ranrapalca and Ocshapalca.
After setting camp, your guide conducts an equipment check and briefing on mountaineering safety basics.

Day 2 – Glacier Training: Ice Climbing Fundamentals

A short 20-minute approach leads to the Vallunaraju Glacier, where the course begins with key technical lessons:

  • Team rope-up procedures

  • Self-belay & self-arrest techniques
  • Rescue and self-rescue procedures in crevasse terrain

Day 4 – Advanced Techniques & Improvised Rescue

Early start for higher glacier training (~5,300 m).
Students practice advanced alpine rescue and teamwork:

  • Ice & snow anchors for belaying
  • Rope management for glacier travel
  • Rescue and evacuation techniques
  • Building an improvised stretcher for emergency transport

Camping: Morrena Camp (4,800 m)

Day 5 – Summit Vallunaraju (5,686 m) → Return to Huaraz

Begin the summit push at 2:00 AM, ascending the moraine before stepping onto the glacier.
Climb steady 30°–40° slopes toward the main northern summit, enjoying spectacular dawn views of Ranrapalca, Huantsán, Huascarán, and Ocshapalca.
After celebrating at the top, descend to Morrena Camp, pack up, and return to Huaraz by afternoon.
