Day 1 – Huaraz → Llanganuco Valley → Morrena Camp (5,000 m)

Depart from Huaraz (3,100 m) early in the morning. Drive through Yungay and up the scenic Llanganuco Valley, passing the turquoise lakes Chinancocha and Orconcocha.
At Km 42, begin the 4-hour hike to Morrena Camp (5,000 m).
After setting up camp, your guide introduces essential knots, anchoring systems, and mountain safety fundamentals.

Day 2 – Glacier Training & Technique Course

A short 20-minute hike brings you to the Yanapaccha Glacier, where your technical instruction begins.
Under your guide’s supervision, practice the following skills:

  • Mountaineering equipment & usage

  • Proper crampon technique
  • Rope management & glacier travel
  • Anchoring in ice
  • Basic ice climbing on gentle slopes

Day 3 – Rescue & Self-Rescue Course

After a morning review, trek toward the glacier to advance your technical knowledge.
This day focuses on safety and rescue procedures in alpine environments:

  • Review of knots and rope systems
  • Glacier ascent practice
  • Ice climbing & belay systems
  • Anchoring in ice and snow
  • Rescue & self-rescue techniques in crevasse scenarios
    This practical day is key to building confidence for real climbing conditions.

Camping: Morrena Camp (5,000 m)

Day 4 – Summit Yanapaccha (5,460 m) → Huaraz

Start at 3:00 AM, crossing rocky moraines to reach the wide glacier.
Ascend a 180 m ice wall (50°–60°) to reach the summit (5,460 m), enjoying panoramic views of Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Huandoy, and Chacraraju.
Descend via a scenic ridge to the moraine and continue to Km 42, where private transport awaits for your return to Huaraz.
Arrival in Huaraz by afternoon.
