Day 1 – Huaraz → Pashpa → Ishinca Base Camp (4,350 m)

Drive from Huaraz (3,050 m) to Cochapampa (3,800 m), where mules and porters await.
Trek for about 4 hours through the Ishinca Valley, surrounded by towering peaks and alpine meadows, until reaching Base Camp.

Day 2 – Summit Urus (5,450 m) → Base Camp

Alpine start (03:00 AM). Hike over rocky moraines, then ascend gentle snow slopes to reach the summit of Nevado Urus, a perfect acclimatization peak with spectacular valley views.
Descend to Base Camp for lunch and rest.

Day 3 – Summit Ishinca (5,550 m) → Base Camp

Start before dawn to climb Nevado Ishinca. Follow a zigzag trail and cross the glacier, ascending moderate slopes to the panoramic summit at 5,550 m, overlooking Ranrapalca, Tocllaraju, and Huascarán.
Return to Base Camp by early afternoon.

Day 4 – Rest or Acclimatization Hike

Relax and recover at Base Camp or take a scenic hike to Milhuacocha Lake (4,600 m). Prepare gear for the final climb of Tocllaraju.

Day 5 – Base Camp → Moraine Camp Tocllaraju (5,100 m)

Ascend along a steep zigzag path to reach Moraine Camp, a rocky plateau below Tocllaraju’s glacier. Organize equipment for the following day’s technical climb.

Day 6 – Summit Tocllaraju (6,034 m) → Base Camp

Begin the summit push at 1:00 AM. Cross glacier sections and climb 40°–55° slopes, followed by a 50 m final wall (55°–65°) to the summit ridge.
From the top, enjoy one of the most impressive panoramic views of the Cordillera Blanca.
Descend carefully back to Base Camp.

Day 7 – Base Camp → Pashpa → Huaraz

Descend 3–4 hours through the Ishinca Valley to Cochapampa, where private transport will return you to Huaraz.

Good to Know

  • Why combine these three peaks?
    It’s a progressive program — start with moderate climbs (Urus & Ishinca) before the technical challenge of Tocllaraju.
  • Do I need prior experience?
    Basic glacier and rope skills are recommended, especially for Tocllaraju.
  • What makes Tocllaraju special?
    Its elegant snow pyramid and final steep wall make it one of the most beautiful 6,000 m ascents in Peru.
  • Guide Ratio:
    1:2 maximum for Tocllaraju, 1:4 for Urus and Ishinca for efficiency and safety.

Recommended Training & Preparation

Physical Conditioning

  • Cardio training: running, hiking, or cycling 3–4 times per week
  • Strength: focus on legs and endurance (squats, lunges, stair climbs)
  • Acclimatization: at least one prior trek above 4,500 m recommended

Technical Skills

Participants should be comfortable with:

  • Crampon and ice axe use on 40–60° slopes
  • Basic glacier travel and rope techniques
  • Using harness, carabiners, and ascenders

A technical review session can be arranged in Huaraz before the climb.

Mental Preparation

Patience and teamwork are essential — weather, snow conditions, and altitude vary. Determination and adaptability are key to summit success.

Recommended Equipment

Provided by Inkaland Treks: group gear (tents, ropes, cooking equipment).

  • Double or insulated mountaineering boots
  • Helmet, harness, crampons, two technical ice axes (for Tocllaraju)
  • Down jacket, waterproof shell (Gore-Tex), insulated pants
  • Thermal base layers, fleece mid-layer
  • Sleeping bag (–15°C or lower)
  • Gloves, hat, buff, glacier sunglasses
  • 40–60 L backpack + duffel bag
  • Sunscreen, lip balm, personal items
