Food & Water
At Inkaland Treks, food is an essential part of the expedition.
Our mountain chefs prepare fresh, balanced, and nourishing meals every day to support your energy at altitude — always prioritizing quality, hygiene, and safety.

Fresh & Healthy Meals
We do not use canned or processed foods.
All our meals are:
- Freshly prepared each day
- Balanced for high-altitude trekking
- Rich in vegetables, proteins, and complex carbohydrates
- Designed to help you recover and feel strong on the trail
Whenever possible, we use organic, locally sourced products, supporting farmers in the surrounding Andean communities by purchasing some ingredients directly from them. This helps generate local income and ensures you enjoy real, authentic Andean freshness.
Experienced Mountain Chefs
Our cooks are trained and continually improve their skills through specialized courses.
They are experienced in:
- Altitude cooking
- Safe food handling
- Dietary adaptation (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergies, etc.)
- Preparing meals that are both tasty and energizing
Menus are custom-designed according to each group’s dietary needs and preferences.
Safe Drinking Water
Hydration is essential at altitude.
During the trek, we provide safe boiled water every morning and every evening so you can refill your bottles or hydration bladders (CamelBak).
- Day 1: Each participant must bring their own mineral water for the first hiking day.
- From Day 2 onward: Inkaland Treks supplies all drinking water for the entire expedition.
If you wish to bring your own water purifier or filter, you are welcome to do so — many trekkers like having their own system.
Containers We Recommend
To stay well hydrated and avoid single-use plastic, we suggest:
- CamelBak / hydration bladder (2–3 liters)
- Nalgene bottle (very reliable at altitude)
- Stainless steel thermos for hot drinks on cold mornings
- Wide-mouth reusable bottles (easier to clean and refill)
Our goal is to keep you hydrated, safe, and comfortable — while also maintaining sustainable practices in the mountains.
