Meet the women behind Her Andes
HER ANDES is a space created to recognize the women behind the experiences we share in the Peruvian Andes.
From the mountain trail to the office, each woman brings her own knowledge, experience and perspective. Together, they contribute to the care, organization and spirit behind every journey.

Edita Oncoy - CEO & Lead Guide
Born and raised in the Peruvian Andes, Edita Oncoy is the founder of Inkaland Treks and a certified trekking guide with 20 years of experience in tourism and the mountains of Peru.
She began guiding in 2005 and founded Inkaland Treks in 2010, turning a dream and a personal vision into a company dedicated to sharing the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash with travelers from around the world.
Today, Edita leads the company’s operations, logistics and trip planning, combining her experience in the mountains with more than 11 years in the hospitality industry.
Although much of her work now happens behind the scenes, the mountains remain at the heart of everything she does.
For Edita, Inkaland Treks is a dream made reality through passion, dedication, perseverance and a constant commitment to improving year after year.
“Inkaland Treks began as a dream and a vision. Today, I feel deeply proud of how far that dream has come. But the journey continues — every year, we strive to learn, improve and create better experiences for our travelers.”

Founder of Inkaland Treks
KARINA VARGAS
Born in the Andes. Guided by experience. Inspired by the mountains.
Karina Vargas has been part of the Inkaland Treks team since 2015 and is now one of our leading mountain and trekking guides, with extensive experience in the Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Huayhuash.
Raised in a small Andean community and coming from a Quechua family, Karina grew up surrounded by the landscapes, traditions and way of life of the Andes. Her connection with the mountains is therefore both professional and deeply personal.
She began her journey with Inkaland Treks guiding day hikes and mountain programs, gradually progressing to longer trekking expeditions. Today, as a certified trekking and tourism guide, she combines strong mountain knowledge with a calm, caring and professional approach to guiding.
Karina speaks English fluently, allowing her to connect naturally with international travelers. Her knowledge, dedication and genuine care for each group make her a fundamental part of the Inkaland Treks team.
Cordillera Huayhuash holds a special place in her heart, and she especially enjoys sharing its dramatic landscapes and challenging mountain passes with travelers.
For Karina, guiding is about more than completing a route. It is about supporting people through challenges and seeing the pride and happiness they feel when they discover what they are capable of.
KARINA’S PHILOSOPHY
“For me, one of the best parts of guiding is seeing people finish a difficult trek with a smile, knowing they have discovered that they can do more than they imagined.”
— Karina Vargas

LIBNA
Connecting with the Andes beyond the trail.
Libna is a tourism and trekking guide whose work brings together mountain experiences, Andean culture and a deep interest in mysticism and traditional ways of connecting with nature.
Her relationship with the Andes goes beyond trekking. Through her studies and personal exploration of Andean traditions, symbolism and reflective practices, Libna has developed a unique perspective on the cultural and spiritual dimensions of the mountains.
Alongside guiding travelers through the trails, she is particularly interested in creating experiences that encourage reflection, connection and a deeper appreciation of the Andean worldview.
Her approach is calm and personal, inviting travelers to slow down, listen and experience the mountains beyond their physical challenges.
Through selected HER ANDES experiences, Libna shares aspects of Andean culture and traditional practices that can offer travelers a different way of understanding the relationship between people, nature and the mountains.
For Libna, the Andes are not simply a place to visit.
They are a place to connect, reflect and experience something deeper.
LIBNA’S PHILOSOPHY
“The mountains have their own way of speaking. Sometimes, we simply need to slow down, listen and allow ourselves to experience them beyond the trail.”
— Libna

“Returning to yourself can mean releasing what you have been carrying, expanding what you are and recognizing what has always been there.”
This idea reflects the way Libna approaches her experiences: creating space for people to slow down, listen to themselves and connect with the landscape around them.

Women Behind The Journey
Guiding | Organizing | Communicating| Caring | Creating | Leading
Behind every journey are women whose work may take place on the mountain, in the office or behind the scenes.
- Different backgrounds.
- Different strengths.
- Different ways of contributing.
But one shared purpose:
To create meaningful experiences in the Andes and make every journey possible.
This is HER ANDES — a collective of women connected by the mountains, by their work and by the belief that every journey is built together.
Different roles. One team. One shared connection to the Andes.
