Meet the founder
Born and raised in the heart of the Andes, Edita Oncoy is a certified trekking guide, a proud member of AGOCP / UIMLA, and the visionary behind Inkaland Treks. Her journey from a young woman dreaming of the mountains to the founder of one of Huaraz’s most respected trekking companies is a story of perseverance, passion, and deep Andean roots.
Edita began guiding in 2006, leading day hikes around the Cordillera Blanca. At a time when very few local guides spoke English, her language skills opened the doors to guiding international travelers. Guiding quickly became her calling — not just a profession, but a way of life filled with connection, laughter, learning, and the joy of sharing her mountains with the world.
In 2012, she graduated as a Guía Oficial de Caminata from CEAM – Centro de Estudios de Alta Montaña, Peru’s official mountaineering and trekking institution. Later, in 2019, she became a member of AGOCP, recognized by UIMLA, strengthening her commitment to international safety and guiding standards.
Driven by the desire to offer a more personal, warm, and high-quality trekking experience, Edita founded Inkaland Treks in 2012 — starting with nothing but a laptop, determination, and a clear vision.
Today, she continues to guide groups herself while leading a dedicated family-run team that shares her values of professionalism, kindness, responsible tourism, and love for the Andes.
With over a decade of experience and thousands of kilometers walked through Huayhuash and the Cordillera Blanca, Edita remains the heart of Inkaland Treks — ensuring every traveler is welcomed with sincerity, cared for with detail, and guided with the same passion that inspired her dream.
