Day 1 – Cusco → Lares Springs → Huaran Village (~3,850 m)

You’ll be picked up early from Cusco and head into the Lares Valley, passing through scenic Andean farmlands. Visit the soothing thermal baths of Lares to prepare your body for altitude. Continue to the charming village of Huaran and trek approximately 4–5 hours to camp near a small Andean settlement. Evening included cultural exchange with local weaving families.

Overnight: Community camp near Huaran (≈3,850 m)

Day 2 – Huaran → Quiswarani Pass (~4,600 m) → Camp

After breakfast, set out early for the most challenging section: the climb to the pass above 4,500 m where panoramic views unfold across snow-topped peaks, glacial lakes and remote valleys. Descend into a high alpine campsite near Quiswarani where you’ll spend the night amongst traditional herding communities.

Overnight: High-camp near Quiswarani (~4,600 m)

Day 3 – Quiswarani → Ollantaytambo → Aguas Calientes (~2,700 m)

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at altitude before descending through the lush Sacred Valley, past historic Inca sites and vibrant villages. Reach Ollantaytambo where you board a train along the Urubamba valley to Aguas Calientes – the gateway town to Machu Picchu. Free evening in Aguas Calientes.

Overnight: Hotel in Aguas Calientes (~2,040 m)

Day 4 – Machu Picchu Sunrise → Return to Cusco

Very early morning transfer to Machu Picchu. Catch sunrise over the citadel, enjoy a guided tour of the terraces, temples and Sun Gate. Afterward, return by train to Ollantaytambo and drive back to Cusco. Arrival in Cusco in the evening marks the end of your expedition.
