Nevado Vallunaraju (5,686 m / 18,654 ft) — meaning “Mountain of Dreams” in Quechua — is one of the most iconic peaks visible directly from Huaraz. Recognized for its twin summits, Vallunaraju offers easy access, magnificent glacier terrain, and panoramic views over the entire Cordillera Blanca, making it one of the best locations in Peru for mountaineering instruction and acclimatization.
This 5-day training course is designed to provide a complete introduction to high-altitude mountaineering. Participants learn fundamental ice-climbing techniques, rope management, anchoring systems, rescue and self-rescue procedures, culminating with an ascent to the summit of Vallunaraju (5,686 m).
Led by UIAGM / IFMGA-certified mountain guides, this course combines hands-on learning, safety-focused instruction, and a real alpine experience — ideal for beginners or trekkers preparing for higher climbs such as Pisco, Chopicalqui, or Huascarán.
