This unique trekking program combines breath-taking Huayhuash Mini Trek in the heart of the Huayhuash Mountain range with the Huanuco pampa Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun). Holding the ceremony in the Ushno or Main Square of the Inca fortress at the Huánuco Pampa archaeological complex, this event is celebrated each year on July 27th. Historically Huanuco Pampa is recognize as the capital of Chinchaysuyo and was the residence of the Incas Tupac Yupanqui and Huayna Capac.

The Inti Sun festival’s purpose is to worship the Sun god as the source of life and thank him for rich harvests throughout the year. The Inti Sun Festival  event includes over 600 participants so the audience will see multiple parades of “Incas” groups wearing beautiful traditional colorful  Inca costumes reenacting scenes that were once an integral part of the ancient Inca Empire.

Inkaland Treks has developed a combination trekking and traditional Inca cultural event experience in the Cordillera Huayhuash Range for July every year.
