Vallunaraju is one of the most predominant mountains near to Huaraz that can be seen directly from the city as well from Cordillera Negra. It can be easily identified and distinguished from other mountains for its double – headed peaks from which the northern summit is the highest one.

Climbing Vallunaraju is a great acclimatization-climb for those seeking for higher mountains in Cordillera Blanca. Its proximity to Huaraz (3,091 m / 10,138 ft), which is a climbing, mountaineering and backpacking mecca for outdoor seekers and the capital city of the Ancash Region, makes of Vallunaraju  (5,780 m / 18,963 ft).  one of the main frequented 5000m climbing destinations in the Cordillera Blanca.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Huaraz – Transfer to Quebrada de Llaca – Moraine Camp (4900
After breakfast at your hotel we leave from Huaraz in our private transportation to the Llaca Valley (3850 m), from here we begin our 2-hour ascend to Moraine Camp (4,900 m.) climbing is relatively long and steep, so we have to walk on our peace and save our energy for the  next summit day. Overnight at Morraine Camp.

Meals Included: –Lunch-Dinner

Day 2: Moraine Camp – Summit of Nevado Vallunaraju (5686 m) – Moraine
Leave Moraine Camp early approximately 2-3 a.m. in order to reach the summit it wil takes a long climb This section of the moraine, at the upper part of the glacier, takes us 5-6 hours. After reaching the summit, we will return to moraine camp, have some soup – then descend to our starting point in the Llaca Valley where the car waits to take us back to Huaraz Hotel.
