This unique trekking program combines breath-taking Huayhuash Mini Trek in the heart of the Huayhuash Mountain range with the Huanuco pampa Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun). Holding the ceremony in the Ushno or Main Square of the Inca fortress at the Huánuco Pampa archaeological complex, this event is celebrated each year on July 27th. Historically Huanuco Pampa is recognize as the capital of Chinchaysuyo and was the residence of the Incas Tupac Yupanqui and Huayna Capac.
The Inti Sun festival’s purpose is to worship the Sun god as the source of life and thank him for rich harvests throughout the year. The Inti Sun Festival  event includes over 600 participants so the audience will see multiple parades of “Incas” groups wearing beautiful traditional colorful  Inca costumes reenacting scenes that were once an integral part of the ancient Inca Empire.
Inkaland Treks has developed a combination trekking and traditional Inca cultural event experience in the Cordillera Huayhuash Range for July every year.

Day 1: TREK STARTS – Huaraz – Huanucopampa – Camp 1
Day 2: Huanucopampa / INTI FUN FESTIVAL – Camp 2
Day 3: Huanucopampa / Queropalca / Carhuacocha – Camp 3
Day 4: Carhuacocha – REST DAY ( Hike to Siula Lakes view point) – Camp 4
Day 5: Carhuacocha – Mitucocha – Camp 5
Day 6: Mitucocha – Rondoy  Valley – Camp 6
Day 7. Rondoy  Valley – Jahuacocha – Camp 7
Day 8: Jahuacocha – REST DAY – Hike to Yaucha Viewpoint or just relax at camp – Camp 8
Day 9: Jahuacocha – Llamac –  Return to Huaraz

Day by day Itinerary

Day 1: Huaraz / Llamac Rondoy Valley

After breakfast at your hotel we will pick you up in our private transportation then drive south from Huaraz to the Rondoy Valley passing the village of Llamac the gateway to the Cordillera Huayhuash range. At Rondoy Valley our Inkaland Treks crew will set up our first camp at 13,123 ft / 4 000 m it opens up into a rolling grassy area where we will have the first views of the snow-capped peaks of the Cordillera Huayhuash. 5 hours drive aproximately.
Meals Included: Snack, Lunch, Tea Time and Dinner.

Day 2: Rondoy Valley / Jahuacocha Lake

Today is demanding but well worth the energy for what you will personally capture this day in breathtaking majestic scenic views as we gradually ascend up through the Rondoy Valley. After ascending to the top of the Rondoy Pass at 15,584ft / 4750 m, you then descend towards the beautiful Laguna Jahuacocha (cocha means lake in Quechua) on the way to our camp situated at the head of the lake (13,287ft / 4050m). 6 to 7 hours.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Tea Time and Dinner

Day 3: Jahuacocha – REST DAY (Hike to Yaucha Pass OR View point)

We spend our last trek day on this circuit resting at Lake Jahuacocha. This is one of the special days for the pleasant and impressive landscape that surrounds and “wows” you by its awesome majestic beauty. There is an option, if you chose to do a half day trek to Paso Yaucha (15,748ft / 4800m) where we have a breathtaking view of the surrounding peaks of the Cordillera Huayhuash or we can just chill-out resting at our Jahuacocha camp.

Day 4: Jahuacocha Lake / Llamac

With successfully completing our special version of this shortened Huayhuash trekking circuit, after breakfast we leave camp early for our return back to Llamac village. We’ll ascend a steady but gradual climb up to Punta Pampa Llamac at 14,108 ft / 4 300 m and then, after a brief rest at this vantage point taking in the surrounding Andean ranges, we’ll descend down a steep gravelly trail to Llamac (10,827ft / 3300 m). In Llamac our private transportation awaits to transfer us back to Huaraz.
